Mood: waitin for the next blow!
13th July 2009

Wind Direction: W
Wind Stength: 15 - 18 knots
Surf / Sea State: messy chop
Air Temperature: 21C
Sea Temperature: warmish
Weather: Sunshine
Max Speed:
Distance Covered:

The plan was to spend the whole of Sunday completing my final PM coursework assignment but that plan went out of the window once the wind had arrived as forecasted so off I headed back home to pick up my gear along with Susan who would be taking some action shots with Fionas super duper camera.

My first outing on the Trix since last August and it’s leaky bladder. The kites been fixed but there’s still air seeping out of the valves at both ends where it’s been fixed so it requires a little bit of silicone sealent and hopefully fingers crossed that will seal it up until I uncover the next fault with it. It keeps enough air in for about an hour and then you have to come in and pump it up. Not ideal!

Conditions at Starr gate looked pretty good and the majority of people were on 12’s. There must have been at least 15 or so out enjoying the smack on shore conditions. Got up and away and onto the water and from the off I was underpowered on my 9m so it was a mission trying to get out the back with the onshore currents pushing you towards the beach all the time. Not a bad sesh but definitely not the best. Could of done with another 5-10 knots which woulda been perfect!!
The sea was lovely and warm and I was way overdressed with my 6/3mm wetsuit. Wish I’d put my shorty on but anyways still had a good laugh and Susan got some good shots in the merky water. Also did some pretty high jumps but she couldn’t get the focus right so they’ve not come out the best.
Once finished, I gave Sue a go teaching her the basics once again on the beach so she had some fun along with a few near draggings.

Glad to be back on the water and can’t wait for Cornwall next month.
